Annual Report

Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

I feel proud and privileged to welcome the august gathering for joining us today on the occasion of our first annual function. ‘Bachpan Ek Utsav’ which aptly describes it.

We are in a new millennium. Hope for peace for all seems a mirage. Unpredictable climate changes are showing how planet Earth is protesting against indiscriminate plunder and neglect. Demographic changes are already showing a rapidly aging population in many parts of the world. The global economic scene has made the job market very volatile.

This is a period of transition. Change is coming thick and fast. Fortunately for us in India, things are not so grim, yet we cannot escape the global impact. Although young people in India will find new opportunities at the same time they will need new skills and new ways to meet the challenges of this millennium. We will be failing in our duty as educators if we do not prepare the youth of our country for the same. This preparation has to start in a school like ours. At SIS our future focus is to build the capacity of the students, developing suitable skills and values to address these issues.

The school Challenges the traditional way of learning by promoting activities conducive to the overall development of the child.

The mission of the school aims to develop each student into a global citizen. The school is committed to imparting quality education that would transform them into independent, compassionate and sensitive individuals possessing strong values and respect towards all cultures.

The vision of Sheoran International School emphasizes to mould the students into well-integrated personalities equipped with the life skills necessary to take up future challenges. SIS is a great place for our young adults to learn and grow.
We are very proud of being the only school in the area for being in partnership with Next Education which gives a cutting edge solution in all fields. It provides curriculum in complete compliance with NCF framework and also meets the guidelines of CBSE, equipping every classroom with digital solutions replete with real life scenarios, labs for hands-on-experience and age appropriate themes to enhance students learning. With the activity calendar in place from day one it ensures for the holistic development of the child.

The school follows an integrated curriculum and thematic learning which suits different learning styles, multiple intelligences, and thematic learning.

I am proud to share that our art curriculum has been designed by NIFA that is National Institute of Fine Arts.
The schools catchline – play, learn, innovate and experience is in sync with the resource kits that are provided with the book kits to our students wherein they explore and stretch their imagination to create, make and experiment with these wonderboxes.

A wide range of co-curricular activities are planned mentioned in the academic calendar to enhance collaborative and cognitive skills of students along with time management, setting goals, building self esteem and contributing to the community.

This would require a change in the teaching-learning process in the classroom. There is a paradigm shift in the classroom transactional pedagogy. The classroom walls have been broken to connect the child to the outside real world. This is a huge challenge for the teachers, parents and the school.

If India has to take its place as a global superpower we need to be a powerhouse of ideas and skills. Our teachers are instrumental in igniting the desire for quest for knowledge and Sheoran has taken another step forward in providing the finest empowerment programs to our teachers. Constant upgradation, trainings and orientation are a part of our HR policy. Next Educatio , our academic partners are instrumental in adding another feather in our cap, which is after the completion of one academic session, our teachers will be certified by IIT Mumbai and also given certificates for the same. Then there’s a provision for Mooc’s – which they can pursue. Moocs are massive online open courses which can be accessed as per one’s convenience.

Every Activity in school life plays a significant role in the development of students. Co curricular activities are an essential part of school life and help in enhancing learning process of students at school. Co-curricular are designed and balanced with academic curriculum so that every student gets to learn beyond subjects. These activities are meant to bring social skills, intellectual skills, moral values, personality progress and character appeal in students. It includes cultural events, classroom activities, creative arts and meditation etc.

The importance of sports and games in school encompasses more than just the benefit of physical activity. Sports increase the self esteem and mental alertness which makes school sports and games necessary for every school age child. It teaches the children life skills like teamwork, leadership, & patience. Sheoran has conducted various Sports activities which have been thoroughly enjoyed by our students as well as staff members.

Technology has the ability to enhance relationships between teachers and students. When teachers effectively integrate technology into subject areas, teachers grow into roles of adviser, content expert and coach. Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun. Our classrooms are equipped with state of the art technology, which opens up new avenues for our students and teachers to explore and learn.
  • Technology is an area wherein I can proudly declare that our school is one of its kind in the vicinity wherein we use interactive teach next boards mapped with the curriculum. This not only makes the teaching learning experience more interesting, but also more reciprocal.
  • Robotics: programming from class 6th onward
  • Computer program like scratch from grade 3 onwards
  • Computer and maths lab from KG onwards
  • The state of the art labs set up by IIT Mumbai gadgets and technology, help in fostering scientific temper amongst students.

We at Sheoran believe in the indoctrination of moral values in students. To inculcate these values at personal level, students are taught the importance of discipline in every aspect of their lives. Since we consider our students to be an integral part of the society, they are encouraged to give back to the society by involving themselves in socially relevant issues related to the environment like plantation drives and planting on their birthdays, no plastic campaigns, water and electricity conservation, sharing food with the motto of joy of giving, celebration of national holidays go a long way towards fostering nationalism and pride in our motherland.

The ethos at SIS not only promotes inculcation of values amongst students, but also aims at bringing under its wings, the differently abled and underprivileged section of the society, so that everybody gets an opportunity to March along and ahead, towards a glorious future. We have our Saisha wing which caters to the need of specially gifted children by providing inhouse identified therapies by specialized mentors.

The school firmly believes that parents are in equal partnership with the school in educating children. So a regular conversation with parents is must and feedback from parents on various issues, regular PCP’s, PINGO’s, trainings and talks for parents, students and staff have been helping immensely.

Parents feedback is taken in the form of questionnaire and analysed to overcome the shortfalls.
The school provides the facility to the students in the following fields too-
1. Medical facilities: a proper sick bay, well qualified full time nurse, and a medical practitioner. The school also has tied up with Kailash Hospital for all kinds of medical help.

2. CCTV surveillance secured classrooms, lobbies and busses. GPS enabled school buses with CCTV security.

3. Transport: More buses are being added to the fleet with GPS bus alert system and two cameras covering the rear and front view of the users to ensure safety. We are in the process of adding proximity alert in our transport.

4. To keep the parent apprised about the school functions, important messages and circulars are sent through ERP.

For us at SIS, this is going to be the future focus for the next few years and we are hopeful that we will be able to prepare our students, not only for the job market but also make them sensitive, concerned and responsible citizens of the global society.
To standardize, a new progressive educational process, needs the intervention and support of all stake holders. All of us have to join hands to make this a success so that we are able to give the best to our children. I am sure that with such a progressive and dynamic school management, ever trusting and supportive parents, hardworking and enthusiastic staff, this is not difficult. We can do it and we will do it.
